Dr. Marilyn Wideman has recently been named Associate Dean of Online Programs at Kaplan University School of Nursing . After starting her career as a graduate RN from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in St. Louis, Wideman went on to earn her BSN and MSN as a psychiatric clinical nurse specialist from St. Louis University and her DNP with a systems leadership focus at Rush University College of Nursing.

With over 40 years of experience in progressive leadership and program development in healthcare and academic settings, Dr. Wideman will be bringing her rich and diverse experience to Kaplan. Dr. Wideman’s past roles include Associate Dean of Faculty Practice, Associate Provost of Community Engagement, and Associate Vice President of Community Engagement and Community Practices at Rush University Medical Center. Other roles have also included Chair of Undergraduate Education at Capella University, principal investigator for multiple grants, and published works on case management and interprofessional education programs.

Further credentials for Dr. Wideman include Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing, long-time member of Sigma Theta Tau, serving on several national boards and committees, leadership roles for national nursing organizations, and a consultant on a national and international level. Kaplan is honored to have Dr. Wideman join the School of Nursing. Her nursing experience in leadership and management will be an influential force for faculty development and student learning in transitions of care, school based health, and interprofessional learning.
