Basic description

A trauma nurse cares for patients who have multisystem trauma across all age groups and works in acute care facilities and transport units.

Educational requirements

Registered nurse license and Bachelor of Science in Nursing are preferred; Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Trauma Course certifications are required; certification is offered by the Emergency Nurses Association.
