Chamberlain University has entered a new agreement with Ochsner Health System that includes the opening of a new Chamberlain University campus in New Orleans to help address the nursing shortage the city is facing.

This will be Chamberlain’s first campus in Louisiana, joining 20 other Chamberlain locations across the US. The campus will offer an on-site, three-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree program with a distinctive culture of care and student support system.

Ochsner Health System expects their alliance with Chamberlain to extend beyond typical clinical affiliation agreements to focus on evidence-based practice, nursing research, interprofessional education, and testing new models for transitioning students into nursing practice. Warner Thomas, president and CEO of Ochsner Health System, tells BusinessWire.com:

“Ochsner has a long history as a leading academic medical center demonstrating a consistent commitment to train the next generation of physicians, nurses, leaders and employees. This partnership is a natural extension of our commitment to prepare the caregivers of the future and continue the high-quality care provided to our patients.”

Chamberlain’s new campus will feature Chamberlain’s Simcare Center which provides high-tech simulated patient care in clinical learning environments for students and Ochsner healthcare professionals. The campus will also include a Center for Academic Success, delivering on-site academic resources and support for students.

The new BSN program differs from other undergraduate nursing programs in that it provides direct entry into a nursing program and is designed to be completed in three years. To learn more about Chamberlain’s new partnership with Ochsner Health System, visit here.
