BASIC DESCRIPTION

The health center nurse provides a comprehensive range of services to individuals and families that range from conducting a health history and health screening; assisting physicians and other health care providers with procedures; administering treatments, immunizations, and medications per physician’s order; and maintaining charts and ensuring proper documentation. They may also be required to take an active role in cases of public health emergency. A health center nurse works in ambulatory centers, home care agencies, or public health organizations.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A registered nurse license is required; Basic Life Support certification is required.
