The position of Dean of the College of Nursing at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana presents an outstanding opportunity for an individual who can integrate forward-looking leadership with strong skills in implementation to guide a college tasked with educating the professionals of tomorrow in areas of critical societal need. The Dean will have the opportunity to foster the college’s potential to meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals in the southeast Louisiana region and beyond, as well as grow the faculty’s contributions to the research and scholarship missions within the college.
The Dean serves as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College and reports to the Provost/Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs. The College contains the Department of Nursing. With approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff, and enrolling over 1,000 undergraduate and graduate students each semester, the College offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs including the BS in Nursing and MS in Nursing. The college also offers professional continuing education activities and faculty development.
Minimum requirements include an earned research-based doctorate from a regionally accredited university in the discipline of Nursing with at least 10 years in higher education within the discipline of nursing. Experience in both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, with a record of strong academic accomplishments, progressive administrative and leadership experience, and qualification for tenure within the College are required. Successful candidates must meet eligibility requirements for registered nurse licensure in the state of Louisiana.
Additionally, the following experiences are desirable:
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with department heads, faculty, staff, deans from other colleges, the Provost, the President, and other administrators at all levels within the college and university.
-Demonstrated knowledge, experience, and success with regulatory bodies and accrediting bodies.
-Demonstrated knowledge of program development and curriculum building.
-Record of excellence in teaching, research/scholarship, and service appropriate to the College.
