The School of Nursing at Rhode Island College invites applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor, Nursing (Pediatrics) for the Fall 2018 semester. (Final appointment is subject to available funding).

The Rhode Island College School of Nursing offers undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. The BSN, RN to BSN, and MSN programs are fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The DNP program is scheduled for an initial CCNE accreditation review in fall 2018. The School partners with major health care agencies in the State and surrounding area to provide excellent nursing education. BSN graduates consistently achieve high NCLEX-RN pass rates: rates well above state and national averages. The BSN student population is richly diverse: 37% report being minority, 11% are male and 25% are second degree candidates. The MSN program options include Adult/Gerontology Acute Care Clinical Nurse Specialist and Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Anesthesia, and Population/Public Health. The DNP program, focused on advanced practice, began in September 2016. Members of the nursing faculty are experienced teachers who are deeply committed to fostering the intellectual and professional development of students. The nursing faculty are engaged in scholarship and serve as leaders in the community and profession. Alumni, numbering over 5,000, are excelling in their careers as clinicians, teachers and leaders. Located on the Rhode Island College campus with an off-campus site at the RI-Nursing Education Center in downtown Providence, the School of Nursing is equipped with state-of-the-art simulation and teaching technologies. The RIC SON simulation program is accredited by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare in the areas of teaching and learning.

The individual will teach undergraduate and graduate courses; provide clinical instruction in pediatric acute and ambulatory care settings; advise students; participate in School and College activities; serve on School and College committees; engage in scholarly endeavors, including publications and presentations; participate in community service.

Required qualifications include: Doctoral Degree in Nursing*; relevant teaching and clinical experience; current RN License.

*NOTE: If no successful candidate is identified, applicants holding a master’s degree in nursing may be considered for a 3 year limited term appointment.

Preferred qualifications: College teaching experience; relevant clinical experience in pediatric nursing; professional certification relevant to the specialty.
