NURSING FACULTY (RN PROGRAM)

Virginia Western Community College, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for a ninemonth, Nursing Faculty (RN Program) position in the School of Health Professions. The incumbent will have a teaching load of approximately 15 credits per semester, which may include distancelearning courses and on and off campus courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends.
In addition to teaching, all faculty members advise students, serve on college committees, and participate in other activities that support the mission of the college. Such activities may include, but are not limited to: accreditation activities, institutional effectiveness activities, club sponsorship, student recruitment, course and program evaluation, community service, and mentoring new and parttime faculty. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Nursing; current Virginia licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN); a minimum of 2 years direct nursing care experience in the clinical area; ability to utilize current classroom technology and experience using Microsoft Office software (e.g., Word, Outlook). Must have the ability to provide student instruction in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.

DESIRED: Educational background specifically in Nursing Education. Studentfocused with experience teaching Nursing students; demonstrated familiarity with academic advising, student success, and retention efforts in the educational setting. Clinical experience in Pediatric and/or Maternal Child Health is desired. Experience using classroom technology (Blackboard, Panopto, PowerPoint, etc.) is preferred. Experience providing student instruction in the classroom, lab, and clinical settings.
