BASIC DESCRIPTION

A community health nurse is someone who delivers nursing care for individuals and families where they live, work, or go to school. The community health nurse may or may not have education and training in public health nursing. The practice settings for the community health nurse are varied and include home care, school-based care, and occupational health care.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
A registered nurse license is required and at least 1 year of acute care experience is required for most jobs; certification is provided by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
