Academy of Neonatal Nursing Presents Debra A. Fraser with Lifetime Achievement Award

At the 17th National Neonatal Nurses Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, the Academy of Neonatal Nursing (ANN) presented their Executive Director, Debra A. Fraser, MN, RNC-NIC, with the ANN Lifetime Achievement Award in Neonatal Intensive Care Nursing.

According to ANN, this award is intended to recognize neonatal nurses whose body of work – clinical, academic, and leadership – over the span of their career has positively affected the care of neonates. Ms. Fraser has clearly demonstrated a long-term commitment to excellence in neonatal care as an Associate Professor and the Director of the Nurse Practitioner Program in the Faculty of Health Disciplines at Athabasca University. She also holds an appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Nursing at the University of Manitoba. Ms. Fraser was awarded the Canadian Nurses’ Association Order of Merit for Nursing Education in 2014.

As a clinician, Ms. Fraser maintains an active practice in the NICU at St. Boniface General Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba, and is the Executive Editor of Neonatal Network: The Journal of Neonatal Nursing. She also serves as a mentor and role model for nursing students, faculty, and practicing nurses. As Executive Director for ANN, Fraser provides the vision the Academy needs to fulfill its mission of improving the care of patients that Academy members serve.

Fraser’s award was presented on September 15, 2017 on behalf of the Academy, a professional nursing organization dedicated to excellence in nursing education. To learn more about Debra Fraser and her dedication to nursing education, visit here.
